A workshop on advanced and autonomous robotics was conducted over two days
viz. 31st Jan and 1st Feb. The workshop was organized by
the IEEE unit of SIES GST. The event began with the address of various members
about the basic electronic components and their functions. The students were
taught about the working principle of motor and other types of motors. The
participants were made familiar with basic motor driver IC’s and were taught
the basic concepts of microprocessors and microcontrollers. With this, the
first session of day one came to an end. After the lunch break, the workshop
resumed to teaching basic syntaxes of Embedded C. The students were cleared of
many misconceptions about the language. The day ended with the participants
trying basic programs and testing them on the robot.
Day two began with a small revision. The IEEE co-ordinators
then began to teach the participants about how exactly a line following robot
works. Then began the practical testing and coding. Each group had to try and
produce the code without error for the line following bot. Almost all the
groups succeeded in the end. A few couldn’t due to technical snags. In a
nutshell , the event was what one could say “where learning meets fun”.
