E-Yantra Project

Robots are here to stay and robotics is one field where all principal branches of engineering converge, generating large opportunities to today’s engineers. Needless to say, organizations capitalizing on this trend and providing platforms for robotic innovations are many indeed. One such platform is the E-Yantra Robotics Competition (EYRC).
The E -Yantra competition, a venture organized by IIT B and sponsored by the MHRD, attracts students from across the country and the students of SIES GST are no exception. Enthusiastic students with budding knowledge in the field of embedded systems and a never-before-seen spark thronged to participate in this competition.
This year too many students from our college participated in E-Yantra’s screening round and qualified for further rounds. Further rounds filtered down the students to 2 teams in EYRC+pilot and 2 teams for mainstream EYRC. This year, IIT B introduced ‘EYRC+pilot’, a competition parallel to EYRC, to account for the huge amalgamation of its participants.
EYRC+ Pilot is a competition that seeks to abstract a real-world problem into a game and to give  the teams a chance to find solutions using image processing with the aim of teaching students advanced topics through Project Based Learning (PBL).
The E-Yantra competition provides a platform for students to learn concepts in embedded systems and micro-controller programming by engaging with them through a competition in the PBL mode.
The team leaders of the selected teams along with their teammates are now working rigorously to make their robots a grand success.
The phrase “Necessity is the mother of invention” aptly suits the mindset of the participants, as students look out for innovative methods to provide real world practical solutions for the challenges put forth by the EYRC.
SIES GST has been a regular contributor to EYRC with its students frequently making it to the top five teams. This year’s participants for mainstream EYRC include Akshay, Adneenay, Dharamateja and Gaurav from team A and Vishnu, Saurabh, Vivek and Shreejith from Team B.
The participants for EYRC+pilot of Team A include Ruchika, Sayli, Suvesha and Vinay while Team B includes Darshan, Rohan, Hari and Mayur.

In the words of Steve Jobs, “Innovation separates the leaders from the followers”, and these participants are surely on their way to become the former.
