Navi Mumbai: Kindness is considered
as one of the seven virtues. The nature, in a way also extends its irresistible
compassion towards the civilization. Though the term is difficult to comprehend
and also the outlook changes with scientific reasoning, the realization is
undemanding. 21st of September is celebrated as International peace Day and the NSS
coordinators of SIES-GST started off by sharing a small video to the volunteers
on the boomerang of kindness, precisely focusing on the concept of ‘What
goes around, comes around’. All volunteers were expected to do at least 1
random act of kindness in and around the college in a time duration of 30
minutes. Many volunteers expressed their gratitude towards the non-teaching
staff by distributing sweets while some of them handed over their water bottles
to the laborers on a nearby construction site. The volunteers were delighted to
be a part of this brilliant task. Definitely, no act of kindness, no matter how
small, is ever wasted. It comes to you someday, somehow. Further, as creating
awareness is an agenda of NSS unit, the volunteers were divided into 10 groups
and were assigned different locations in Nerul. The volunteers were asked to
take a survey on how many shopkeepers/residents from Nerul have a brief
knowledge about the procedure to lodge complaints in the ward office. They were
also informed to cross-examine the people about the complaints they face on
daily basis. This activity also turned out to be a success for the unit. The
day ended by motivating the volunteers to undertake such activities to spread
joy, laughter and happiness to make this world a better place to live in.
Certainly, Kindness cannot be adopted or approved in circumstances; it is
imbibed in a person’s behavior.
