Navi Mumbai: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit is the largest and the most active student chapter in SIES Graduate School of Technology. It is one unit where students are given an opportunity to actively serve the society. 43 out of 200 applicants from the second years were recruited into the student chapter in July, 2014. The NSS unit in all comprises of 100 volunteers.
The orientation for the new members was conducted on the 1st of August in the SIES GST auditorium where the Principal Dr. Alka Mahajan along with many other teachers were present. The orientation started with the lighting of the lamp which was done by the Principal and the teachers. This was followed by a prayer. A brief introduction about the NSS unit was given where they mentioned about events and activities conducted by them last year. The senior volunteers also shared their experiences about the events as well as about the NSS camp held in December, 2013.
This was followed by the Principal's speech wherein she addressed the gathering and spoke about her expectation from the new crop of NSS volunteers.
