What started as
a small seed of thought, now culminated into a huge reality when the Literary Club
of SIESGST introduced its own festival GRAVITAS with the motive of boosting the
oratorical and writing skills of the students. The festival turned out to be a
huge success as students turned up in huge numbers. The events conducted in
this festival were Equinox (debate), story writing, essay writing, Twist and
Rhyme (poetry writing), elocution, Quizolution (quiz), Stand Your Point (group discussion) and spelling bee.
Events like
Debate and Elocution saw huge participation from students who had come to show
off their oratory skills. The events also gave a platform to some very
impressive speakers.
The essay and
story writing competitions tested the imagination and fluency in written
English while the poetry competition saw some beautifully written poems on the
theme ‘Life’.
Stand Your Point, the group discussion showcased every participants' creative and out-of-the-box thinking over not-so-common world issues.
Stand Your Point, the group discussion showcased every participants' creative and out-of-the-box thinking over not-so-common world issues.
Quizolution, a
quiz that touched upon almost all the topics like current affairs, history,
literature, sports, among others, tested the participants’ penchant for general
knowledge.
Spelling Bee was
another popular event conducted during Gravitas which encouraged participants
with predilection for spellings.
All good things
must come to an end! Cognition and Gravitas 2013 together ended as a winning
combination that left behind sweet and joyous memories for GSTians to cherish
until the next edition of the two intra-collegiate festivals.
